Overview

We are recruiting an experienced Legal Cashier to join our Finance team.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day cashiering activities ensuring Residual Balances are conducted in accordance with the SRA accounts rules.

 

As the Legal Cashier you will liaise with Partners and Fee Earners throughout the firm and identify ways of automating the cashiering processes, along with a heavy focus on client facing transactions.

 

This role is offered on a hybrid working and a part-time basis, a minimum of 20 hours per week are required with flexibility around number of days and start/finish times, with up to full time hours available.

 

As the Legal Cashier you will:

  • Verify and process payments, receipts and transfer workflows
  • Handle expense claims
  • Process Residual Balances in accordance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Send BACS and CHAPS payments on a daily basis
  • Monthly reporting on Residual Balances
  • Liaising with the Firms' auditors on Residual Balances

We are looking for:

  • Experience of dealing with Residual Balances within a law firm is essential
  • Experience of working as a legal cashier within a law firm is essential
  • Good knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules and familiarity of relevant processes is essential
  • Ability to demonstrate strong administration skills and a methodological approach to cashiering
  • Proficient knowledge in accounting systems such Aderant and Credit Force Residual balance or equivalent is essential.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is essential
  • Experience of online banking within a law firm
  • Experience of handling clients both internal and external

Some of our benefits include:

  • Salary reflective of your experience, circa. £26,00 to 32,000 FTE, depending on experience
  • Earn up to 10% of your salary with our annual bonus scheme.
  • Minimum of 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays per year increasing to 31 days with length of service, with the opportunity to buy/sell up to 5 days holiday per year (pro-rata for part-time).
  • Auto enrolled into the workplace pension scheme, and we'll contribute a minimum of 6% of your salary. 
  • 4x your annual salary in the event of a death in service.
  • Hybrid and flexible working for most roles with 40-60% of your time spent in the office.
