Overview

Are you a marketing communications manager with people leadership experience? We are recruiting a Senior Marketing Communications Manager to cover a period of maternity leave.

The Marketing team sits in a growing BD & Marketing function tasked with driving the business forward towards Ambition 27 – an ambitious strategic vision which is underpinning significant double-digit growth. The firm is growing at pace and the team has grown substantially to support this growth.

This is a varied, fast-paced and exciting Marketing Manager role. You'll create and deliver marketing campaigns and activities to embed the Walker Morris brand, both inside and outside the firm and work across the firm to support our growth strategy, primarily in sectors, but also supporting departmental ambitions.

You'll manage, develop and inspire a marketing team of eight, working across PR, digital, design and events. You'll also work with the Marketing & BD Director and Business Development team to ensure marketing activities are aligned with wider firm objectives and BAU work is delivered as effectively and efficiently as possible.

This is an exciting time to join the team. We're currently identifying our brand proposition and refreshing our brand, and you'll have the opportunity to scope its rollout across all our client touchpoints.

As the Senior Marketing Communications Manager, you will:

  • Manage our brand and be responsible for the delivery of activities to generate awareness of who Walker Morris is both inside and outside of the firm, including:
    • Delivering creative and category-challenging ways of increasing brand awareness and positive associations of Walker Morris outside the firm. This includes utilising the team to deliver on sponsorships, events, PPC and PR activity.
    • Challenging everyone – yourself, your team, lawyers – to always think how their activities will embed and strengthen the brand.
    • Being responsible for brand consistency across all external comms, including visuals and tone of voice.
    • Setting brand objectives, managing budgets and measuring using our brand tracking programme.
  • Manage our marketing communications including:
    • The marketing campaigns that will position Walker Morris as experts in our chosen markets, including initial research, objectives and strategy setting, implementation and evaluation of success. You'll have the support of the team to deliver the tactics and a Marketing Campaigns Executive to support in co-ordinating the activity.
    • Managing, with the support of your team, day-to-day marketing communications and reputation activity, continuously improving and innovating how we use our main channels such as PR, events, website, socials and sponsorships.
  • Work closely with the CRM and Data team to constantly improve processes for managing marketing and campaign data.
  • Take oversight of internal communications (run by our comms team), ensuring we're maximising internal news flow and embedding a 'client-first' culture.
  • Manage a team of eight, developing them as specialists, encouraging them to be bold, and inspiring them to achieve great things.
  • Ensure we maximise relationships with creative and media agencies.

We are looking for:

  • Experience in marketing in a professional services or B2B environment.
  • Experience of working with all elements of the marketing mix – brand management and event strategy would be a particular advantage.
  • Strong grasp of client-centric positioning and the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on tactical execution.
  • Track record of streamlining processes to ensure that BAU activities can be delivered efficiently, maintaining excellent quality standards.
  • Ability to mentor and motivate team members to push themselves and think outside the box.
  • Excellent influencing skills, with the credibility and confidence to persuade senior stakeholders of the merits of the suggested approach.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign would be an advantage.
  • Strong project management skills, adept at juggling multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly self-motivated and enthusiastic, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for delivering excellence.

Some of our benefits include:

  • Salary reflective of your experience.
  • Earn up to 10% of your salary with our annual bonus scheme.
  • Minimum of 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays per year increasing to 31 days with length of service, with the opportunity to buy/sell up to 5 days holiday per year.
  • Auto enrolled into the workplace pension scheme, and we'll contribute a minimum of 6% of your salary.
  • 4x your annual salary in the event of a death in service.
  • Hybrid working with 40-60% of your time spent in the office.
  • Hybrid and flexible working with 40-60% of your time spent in the office.
  • A minimum of 12-months fixed term contract. This role is to cover maternity leave, with a hand-over period with the current post holder at the start and end of the fixed term contract. We can consider applications from those looking for a 4-day working week.
